About OLH

The HISTORY and MISSION of OLH

Our Lady of the Hamptons Regional Catholic School is a unique community of students, teachers, and parents, located in Southampton, NY.  The school was founded as Our Lady of Poland School in 1961, and regionalized as Our Lady of the Hamptons in 1982.
As the only Catholic elementary school on the south fork of Long Island, we offer a fully accredited and rigorous course of academic study for students in grades K-8.  Our educational program follows the directives of the Diocese of Rockville Center and the New York State Education Department.
OLH also offers an outstanding fine arts program and opportunities for students to participate on interscholastic sports teams.  The school boasts a brand new gymnasium, two science labs, a math lab, an art studio, a dance studio, a new middle school "prep" building for grades 6-8, and a newly renovated library/media center.
The school is administered by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, and staffed by a fully accredited and certified faculty of religious and lay teachers.

A  Catholic school, religion is woven into all areas of our program.  Students are encouraged to live their faith, and often serve their school and home parish as altar servers, lectors, and youth group leaders.  Furthermore, students are leaders in our community, spearheading countless service projects each year such as clothing drives, fundraisers, and holiday toy collections for Operation Christmas Child.

Our Lady of the Hamptons is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, first in 2001, and receiving re-accreditation in 2012, and is part of the Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.  A second campus at St. Rosalie’s Parish Center, part of St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays, holds a fully licensed Preschool program for three and four-year olds.  The school is administered by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood and staffed by a fully accredited faculty of religious and lay teachers.

Our school is attended to and supported by three parishes: St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton Bays, Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton, and the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton.

The community of Our Lady of the Hamptons Regional Catholic School welcomes all to our family! We are grateful to all who enable our school to grow and remain as a constant in the strong Catholic education of the children we serve. We pray that each of our family members be enriched by their presence  in this school family. Let us pray for each other as we continue on in our latest educational adventure ever grateful for the gifts we share.

Our Lady of the Hamptons Regional Catholic School has been designated as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. Further accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools was granted in November 2001, following a two year self-study and formal visitation by the Commission on Elementary Schools, and again in 2012.

Our Lady of the Hamptons is a special community of people young and old who seek "to be the best that they can be" for their families, their country and their God

"Catholic education has left a lasting imprint on your community from the days ofSt. Elizabeth Seton to the present. I am confident that you understand the importance of continuing....indeed, expanding the eminent tradition of Catholic education in your parishes ....Catholic education serves the future of all Americans by teaching and communicating the very riches on which American democracy rests." - Pope John Paul II to a gathering in Baltimore.

In an attempt to create a family spirit, the interaction of all family members is encouraged through service, socials, special events, and family-oriented activities.
