Once you learn to read, you will be forever free"

Frederick Douglass

Make sure you are reading everyday. Reading for at least 20 minutes a day is so important. You can reach 20 minutes in so many different ways. Read a magazine, book, menu, ebook, directions, comic book, recipe, etc...Find something you are interested in!

Ways to improve your reading:

1) Read everyday- Parents can read to their children too!
2) Work on sight words- Check the classroom Resources page for some suggestions on games to play.
3) Create your own stories
4) Practice writing words

5) Retell a story- Retell a story that you have heard before. Try to write it out or even illustrate a picture of it.
6) Write a song or a poem- Write it out. Have someone edit it and work to improve it.
7) Have fun with words. -Write words and make a game to go along with
them.
8) Use technology- Find different reading apps and websites

The More that you Read, the more things you will KNOW.
The More you Learn, the more Places you'll Go!
